I’m scared to listen to this album too much as I don’t ever want its brilliance to dim. Recorded during an isolated winter in his dad’s hunting cabin, he had nothing but his thoughts and some recording equipment. Bon Iver created a sparse beautiful masterpiece and i love it!
“I arrived at the cabin in November, so there’s a very big winter theme for everything when I was there. On a physical level, I would wake up to stoke the fire or get wood chopped to get it in the house to keep warm. Just winter in general was kind of a part of where I was physically and metaphysically as well. It bled into the music naturally. I had nothing but the sound of my own thoughts, and they were really loud when that’s all that was going on.”
This video is part of a project I’m working on. I’m learning to play my favourite albums on a ukulele. If you enjoyed it why not check out some other classic albums that I arranged. Like Damien Rice or Ben Howard.
LEARN SOMETHING ELSE?
It’s one of those albums where no particular song stands out, mainly as they are all of equal strength
