I first heard of Jeff when i friend from school kept banging on about him. “He is the greatest loss of his generation” he would exclaim. ” I can’t believe you have never heard his music” he would go on and on at me. I shrugged him off because he was borderline annoying me at this point. However during my weekly visit to HMV to get some new albums. I saw Grace there for £3.99 and thought let’s see what all the fuss is about.
Later that night I went up to my bedroom and got my headphones out with the long wire. My mate told me you need to fully focus on it. So I wanted to lay down and soak it all in. So i put it in my CD player, pressed play and quickly climbed to the top of my bunk bed. I was already awed by the angelic intro of Mojo Pin but then the first words Jeff spoke to me “I’m lying in my bed”. My eyes shot open, I felt like this was some kind of profound coincidence. Safe to say my attention was fully on this album for the next 50 mins. A true classic.

The ukulele and internet didn’t bond well when they first met. Sure its popularity soared through the roof and
I always thought The Strokes had this effortless coolness about them. Everything they put out seems to ooze it.
