Another song that I had never heard until somebody on here suggested it to me. I jumped over to YouTube and see it got 50,000,000 views. I press play and I’m exposed to one of the most beautiful acoustic guitar riffs I have ever heard. It sounds equally good on the ukulele too so let’s learn to play Burning House.
What Are We Learning To Play?
Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.
I love this tune as it’s accessible for all levels of player. The open notes are what really drive it and we have a lot of them. Start by playing your ring finger on the 7th fret of the A. Each time you go down a fret, you want to go down a finger too. So your middle finger on the 5th and your first finger on the 3rd. Then slide your first finger to 2nd fret and perform the hammer-on with your middle finger.
For the majority of the fingerpicking in the song, you want to assign one finger per string. Use your thumb for the C string and then follow down naturally. There’s a part in the 4th measure where you pick the top 3 strings, the same finger positions apply.
