Mac Demarco – Freaking Out the Neighbourhood

This song is about when Mac was playing a drunken gig and somehow drumsticks ended up in his behind. Due to it being the 21st century, a video of it ended up online. One thing led to another and his mother and grandmother saw it. The song is essentially an apology to them.

What Are We Learning To Play?

Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.

Ukulele Tabs

We can make this easier to play for ourselves by creating chords and picking out the notes from them. For the first one, use your first finger on the 6th fret of the A string and your middle finger on the 7th of the E string. For the second chord, keep your first finger on the A string but slide it down to the 4th fret. Then use your middle finger on the 6th of the C and your ring finger on the 6th of the E.

After the chords, we have a nippy little riff on the A string. You want to use your fingernail to do a downstroke then an immediate upstroke on the 11th fret. That’s going to give you enough speed to play it correctly.
