Punk-rock titans from the late 90s and early 00s. The Offsprings Americana spawned multiple hits all over the world. They introduced many people into the world of punk and I was one of them. Let’s learn to play some of them songs on the ukulele.
Today we are leaning to play Staring At The Sun, The Kids Aren’t Alright and She’s Got Issues. Below is my arrangement of the album from which these ukulele tabs are taken.

Staring At The Sun
This is the vocal line from the chorus. Use your middle finger on the 2nd fret of the C string and first finger on the 1st fret of the string below. This way your fingers are perfectly placed to hit that 3rd fret with your ring finger when you need too.
A |-----0---------0---------|----|--------0---------|-------|
E |---1---1-3---3---3-1-----|----|------3---3-1-----|-------|
C |-2-------------------2-0-|-x3-|--------------2-0-|-2-----|
G |-------------------------|----|------------------|-------|
The Kids Aren't Alright
This riff can be a little nippy when you play it along to the song. With that in mind, I find it easier to play with my fingernail. Generally I can play a lot faster this way as opposed to using my thumb to pluck the notes.
A |-------------------|---------------------------------6-6-6-6-------------------------| E |-6---8-9-------8-9-|---------6-6-6-6-8-8-8-8-9-9-9-9---------9-9-9-9-8-8-8-8-9-9-9-9-| C |---------6---6-----|-8-8-8-8---------------------------------------------------------| G |-------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
She's Got Issues
The opening riff to this song is a combination of chords and a melody. Pay attention to the A string of the tab as all the melody will be played on that string.
The first chord is a barred E so that’s simple enough. It gets a bit tricky when it comes to the B Major next. You need to barre the 2nd fret with your first finger, then use your ring finger on the 4th fret of the G and your middle on the 3rd fret of the C. That leaves your pinky finger ready to hit the 4th fret of the A string before the chord changes.
We are back to a barre chord again for the next chord. Use your pinky finger for the 5th fret on the A, then use your ring finger to come down to the 4th. Lastly your pinky finger again to play the 5th and slide up to the 7th.
A |-7-7---7-|-2-2---2-2-4-|-5-5---4-5-7-|-0-0------| E |-4-4---4-|-2-2---2-2-2-|-2-2---2-2-2-|-0-0------| C |-4-4---4-|-3-3---3-3-3-|-2-2---2-2-2-|-1-1------| G |-4-4---4-|-4-4---4-4-4-|-2-2---2-2-2-|-2-2------|
