Sunday Best has taken the internet by storm. It currently has 1.2 million videos created using its sound on Tik Tok. Let’s learn to play this awesome song on the ukulele.
I originally heard Surfaces when one half of them got recommended to me on YouTube. Grandpops Uke by Forrest naturally stood out to me for its fantastic use of the ukulele. They have this cool laid vibe that lends itself really well to the uke.
What Are We Learning To Play?
Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.
For this song, we need to assign one finger to each string on the strumming hand. Use your thumb for the C string, the first finger for the E and your middle finger for the A string. Get your hand comfortable as it’s not going to move from them positions.
Now let’s talk about the fretting hand. For the most part, we are playing chords and picking out notes from them. Put your first finger on the 3rd fret of the A. Then your middle finger on the 4th of the C string. Lastly, your ring finger on the 5th fret of the E.
Keep your middle finger on the C string and slide it down to the 2nd fret. Then lift your first finger onto the 1st fret of the E string.
For the second section, your hands are the same position as the first chord. This time you need to add your pinky finger on the 7th fret of the A string too.
If you would like to hear some more Surfaces on the ukulele. If put together an arrangement of the Horizons album.
