How to play Guess The Chord

Guess The Chord is a daily ear-training game for ukulele players. Press Play Chord to hear a hidden chord, then recreate it on the fretboard and submit your guess. You get six tries, with colour hints after each one — the same idea as Wordle, but for chords.

    Tap notes on the fretboard to build your guess, using the × marks to leave a string open or muted.

    Press Play Guess to hear your version, then Submit.

    Each string turns green (right), yellow (right fret, wrong string) or grey (not in the chord). Crack it within six tries.

Daily puzzle vs practice mode

The Daily puzzle gives everyone the same chord each day. Solve it to build your streak, share your result grid and climb the leaderboard. Practice mode serves unlimited random chords whenever you want more, and does not affect your daily streak.

Why play a chord game?

Guessing chords by ear trains your musical ear and helps you recognise the common ukulele shapes — C, Am, F, G7 and more — so they come faster when you are actually playing. A few minutes a day is a fun, low-pressure way to sharpen both skills.

Yes. The daily puzzle changes at midnight and everyone gets the same chord that day, so you can compare with friends.

What is practice mode?

An endless mode with random chords for when you want to keep playing. Practice rounds do not count towards your daily streak or the daily leaderboard.

Do I need an account?

No, you can play without one. Signing in for free saves your score to the leaderboard and keeps your streak across devices.

What is the daily streak?

The number of days in a row you have played the daily puzzle. Turn up each day to keep it going; miss a day and it resets.
