R U MINE?, Arabella, Mad Sounds

The Arctic Monkeys and the ukulele are a combination that works super well together. With that in mind, let’s learn to play some songs from the AM album. In this post we are learning to play R U MINE?, Arabella, Mad Sounds and Do I Wanna Know.

I have been a fan of the Arctic Monkeys since the myspace days. They already had a big following, but this album seemed to rocket them into the musical stratosphere. The songwriting is as always, excellent. What stands out to me is the production. Producer James Ford said he wanted to push them in a direction they haven’t been before. It sounds huge! Like stadium-esque.

Enough rambling, let’s learn some songs. Below is my arrangement of the album and the tabs are taken from that.

This video is part of a project I’m working on. I’m learning to play my favourite albums on a ukulele. If you enjoyed it why not check out some other classic albums that I arranged. Like The Strokes or Two Door Cinema Club.

Arctic Monkeys Ukulele Tabs

Not sure how to read these? Check out this guide and you will be learning these ukulele tabs in no time.

R U MINE?

This is the solo the runs towards the end of the song. I’m using a low G in the video but you can get away without one.

For the first run that starts on the 4th fret of the G and ends on the 7th fret of the A string. You only need to use your first and ring finger. After that, slide up to the 14th with your ring finger.

A|------------------------4-7----14-12-9-7------------------------------------------------------
E|-0-2-0-2------------5-7---------------------0-2-0-2-------------------------------------------
C|----------------4-6---------------------------------------------------------------------------
G|------------4-6----------------------------------------4p2-4p2-4p2-4p2-4/7-7-7-6-4----2-4-6-2-

Arabella

If you are using a soprano ukulele, chances are you won’t be able to reach up those high frets for this one. That’s not a problem though, just play the second chord after the slide twice. Palm mute the riffs for extra beef!

A|-14-2-------------------------------------------------
E|-15-3------------------0-2-3-5-3-2-0------------------
C|-16/4-------------------------------------------------
G|---------2-2----0-0---------------------2-2----0-0----

Mad Sounds

Again I’m using a low G for this one. I tried it with a normal G and it still works nicely. I noticed I made a little mistake on the tab. The third to last note should be on the 3rd fret and NOT the 2nd.

A|------------------------------|--------------------------|--
E|-------5--------6p5-----------|-----3--------2--5--1-----|--
C|---------------------5-----5--|--------------------------|--
G|--3/5--------5----------5-----|--3--------3--3--5--3-----|--

Do I Wanna Know

This epic riff sounds amazing on the ukulele and it’s very easy to play. The hammer-ons might cause you some difficulty if you are a beginner. You can learn all about them here.

A|------------------------6/8--6----------------------------------------------|
E|-------6-------------6----------8/10--8-----6--8/10--8-----6--8--10--10-----|
C|--5h7-----7-----5h7------------------------------------------------------7--|
G|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
