Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son

The theme of today’s post is “A song that you listen to while driving”. With that in mind, let’s learn how to play some Creedence Clearwater Revival on the ukulele.

I have no idea why. I can only assume that I saw some film as a kid that’s ingrained into me. But whenever I hear that opening kick and snare from Fortunate Son. I instantly want to put my foot down and hit the open road.

What Are We Learning To Play?

Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.

This riff is going to need some strength in your fingers. If you are a beginner it could be a little taxing on your digits.

The strength is needed so you can hold the bottom string and add some vibrato

Use your middle finger for everything on the C string. When you slide up the frets, your first finger is going to be perfectly placed to fret the bottom string. The only change comes you need to use your ring finger for the 7th fret on the A string.
