This beautiful acoustic guitar intro is some of John Frusciante’s best work in my opinion. The chords are pretty straight forward in theory, but his inversions give them a super unique sound. Let’s learn to play it on the ukulele.
What Are We Learning To Play?
Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post. This is a segment taken from my medley of the Stadium Arcadium album.Â
Ukulele Tabs
I’m using a low G for this song but you can easily get away with a high G too.

The chords can be challenging as we have a tonne of stretching going on for some of them. The key is to separate the chord changes from the picking and practice them both on their own. The last chord is an absolute bugger to get to, you WILL need to practise it a lot.
I have put the notes from the chords in blue at the start of each one so you know which chords to from. Do not play the blue notes.Â
