I always assumed this song was about Georges sexuality and this was him coming out to his fans. Turns out it was a big f*** you to his record label and his way of taking his artistic creativity back. He’s speaking directly to his fans when he says ” I won’t let you down, I will not give you up, I won’t let YOU down, so please don’t give ME up, cause I would really really love to stick around.” Let’s learn to play Freedom on the ukulele.

I’m using a low G string in the video of me playing it but you can easily get away with using a high G too. The intro is normally played on a jangled piano so I have done my best to make it playable on a ukulele too. It all boils down to the rhythm, its got a super skank that you just have to get in the zone and feel it out. That’s possibly bad advice for a teacher to give but its honestly the only way to figure it out.
