My first introduction to this song was a cover that The Kooks did for a free CD with NME magazine. Way back when it was in print. Peter Bjorn and Johns pitch-perfect alchemy on that whistling intro is just delightful. Let’s learn to play the opening of Young Folks on the ukulele.

This is a super straight forward lick to play. As you can see from the video, there is barely any finger movements going on near the fretboard. If you form a chord from the first two notes, you can keep it in that position for the next 13 plucks. Even after that, there are only subtle movements. It’s worth noting, I’m using a low G for this piece.
