Feist – Mushaboom

Feist is known for her humongous hit 1,2,3,4 that seemed to penetrate radio stations in the mid-00s. She also had a lot of success with Mushaboom that equally dominated tv shows and adverts. You may not know the artist but you will undoubtedly recognise the song. Let’s learn to play it on the ukulele.

What Are We Learning To Play?

Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.

Ukulele Tabs

Although it’s quite simple on the fretting hand, this song can be quite taxing on the strumming/plucking hand. Its one of those that takes a while to get the “feel” of it, but when you do, it plays super smoothly.

We are opening up with a hammer-on on the 3rd fret to the 5th. You want to barre the 3rd fret across all the strings. The only other frets you need to be hitting is the 5th, use your ring finger to hit the notes. The pull-off from the 5th to 3rd on the C string should NOT be plucked. You just want to drag it off with your ring finger and that’s enough t create the sound. Use your thumb and first finger to pluck those three chords at the end of this section.

After you have repeated the first section twice you want to keep the 3rd fret barred. Use your pinky finger to hit that 6th fret on the A string. Use your pinky finger again to hit both notes of the 6th frets for the final section.
