I first heard this song from these people on YouTube that used to upload covers while driving in a van. This was way back in the early days of YT, before every man and his dog got hold of a Sony AX7. This band would just prop their iPhone on the dash and go for it. What made it really special was that it was my introduction to Funkadelic and the Maggot Brain album. A masterpiece from start to finish that has inspired artists left right and centre since it was released. Let’s learn to play Can You Get To That on the ukulele.

Are you ready for a finger stretch? your fingers are going to need to be as limber as possible for this one. We are starting with our pinky finger on the 10th fret on the E string and our first finger on the 6th fret of the A string. You need to pluck the E string and slide your pinky up to the 11th fret. It can be taxing if you are a beginner and don’t quite have the strength in your pinky yet, just take your time with it. The rest of the intro riff is a breeze compared to the first part.
