I confess I was completely unaware of this song until somebody on Instagram suggested I arrange the into for the uke. I’m very glad they did, as its a total bop based around some delightful chords. With some licks going them together it becomes a super fun song to play. Let’s learn to play it on the ukulele.

To get familiar with this riff I suggest getting to grips with chords before you add any of the lick’s between them. The strumming pattern is D U X D, the X is a chuck. That means you need to dampen/mute the strings and then strike them with a downstroke. For the opening chord, use your first finger on the 1st fret of the G, middle finger on the 1st fret of the E and your pinky on the 3rd of the A. This will make the translation into the next chord much easier.
Although the licks sound like they might be difficult, as soon as you separate them from the chords they become a lot simpler. It could be a stretch getting to that chord that’s high up on the fretboard for the third part. It’s not 100% necessary but adds a nice embellishment.
