Papa Roach – Last Resort

Last Resort

When we talk of titans in the Nu-Metal genre, Papa Roach will often get mentioned. Alongside the likes of Linkin Park, Korn and Slipknot. They carried the torch for so many angsty teenagers in the early 00s. I was one of them so it was only a matter of time before Papa Roach ukulele style became a thing on this website.

what are we learning to play?

Below is a video of what you will be able to play by the end of this post.

In true nu-metal style, we are using a palm muting technique for this song. It involves using the palm of your hand to “mute” the sound of the stings.

This doesn’t mean we are making the notes silent. We are making them sound more sudden and not letting them ring out. The benefits of palm muting are that it adds a more accurate sense of rhythm to the song.

To do this you need to place your strumming hand on the about 1cm from the bridge. Slightly hover over the strings and pluck the notes with your fingernail.
